Dear Supporters,
Last Saturday, thousands of people took to the streets of New York City to protest Attorney General Eric Holder’s outrageous plan to transfer 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other admitted war criminals to the United States for trial in a civilian court in New York City. The protest sent a clear message to the politicians in Washington: the terrorists who targeted innocent men, women and children and who were captured by our military on a foreign battlefield should not have the same rights and legal protections as American citizens. We will fight them all the way!
Opposition to this dangerous policy began on November 9, 2009, when 300 9/11 family members sent a letter to President Obama, urging him not to transfer these enemy combatants to US soil for trial. Thanks to your signatures, the number of signers now exceeds 135,000.
Four days later, on November 13th, Holder announced his decision to bring unrepentant, committed Islamic terrorists to a civilian court in lower Manhattan where they can mock their victims and rally their fellow terrorists just blocks away from where 2,752 people were murdered. He made this decision without consulting the Department of Homeland Security, New York City’s police commissioner or its mayor.
In response to this decision, 9/11 families, first responders and military families have joined together to stop Holder from giving Khalid Sheikh Mohammed the platform he craves in the heart of New York City. To support their efforts, Keep America Safe, theBravest.com and 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America, formed the 9/11 Never Forget Coalition.
With this new coalition, we can combine the firepower of all supporting organizations to target this one specific issue for reversal. This effort has been met with overwhelming support. Since its inception, the Coalition has gained the support of the Center for Security Policy, ACT For America and the Uniformed Retired Firefighters Association, among others.
The rally in New York City was a warning shot to the members of Congress. Now the fight needs to move from the streets of New York to the offices of Congress. By a wide margin, recent polls show that Americans do not support this policy. We will target any member of Congress who ignores the will of the people on this issue.
We are asking every person who objects to the terror trials to contact Congressional offices in Washington and in local districts. Phone calls, letters and personal visits can keep the pressure on Congress.
Even if you don’t receive a personal response, they are getting your messages. If you don’t do anything, you will guarantee they will never hear you. Action is needed on your part — on our part — to preserve the chance that our voices will be heard and terrorists captured on the battlefield will be kept out of our civilian courts.
We are not asking you for your money or your vote; we are asking for something far more valuable: your time. This is not an appeal for you to do something for us. This is an appeal asking you to raise your voice.
Put your Congressmen and Senators on record.
Today, Keep America Safe launched the video “Raise Your Voice,” which was shot on location this past Saturday at the rally in New York. We encourage you to respond to this video via YouTube with a short video report of what your representative told you when you called, emailed or visited.
Besides video reports, we encourage you to join the Coalition’s Facebook page and file your report on its wall. You can also post a brief line directed to @Never911Forget on Twitter, telling the world who is with us and who stands against us. We also urge you to report your findings to local and national radio, telling the hosts what your representatives told you. All of these things can make a difference and will keep the pressure on Congress.
Let’s find out who the real leaders are in the U.S. Congress and who is willing to fight back.
Sincerely,
Tim Brown and Debra Burlingame
Co-founders, 9/11 Never Forget Coalition
P.S. This Friday night, Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” program will be an hour-long town hall special featuring 9/11 family members and first responders who are furious that members of Congress are letting admitted war criminals have civilian trials on US soil. The Coalition will be represented in the audience and we urge you to tune in and hear their reasons for opposing these trials. “Hannity” airs at at 9pm EST, with a replay at 12 midnight EST.

Dear Editor: I am the first person speaking on the “raise your voice video”. As you can tell from my presentation, I feel a passion for this mission, our National Security. With this in mind, when I returned from the rally I wrote the following, hoping that I can join in the voices of outrage. Even though I looked dreadful, it is clear that I am expressing the emotions we need to turn this decision around…Respectfully, JanSuzanne Krasner
“This past Saturday, December 5, was cold and raining in NYC. The rally sponsored by the ‘9/11 Never Forget Coalition’ began at noon and the weather did not help to bring out people to gather at Foley Square, which is directly across the street from the Federal Court Building. The people who did come out in the rain, several hundred, maybe a thousand, were clearly guilty of having genuine passion for their cause…to reverse Eric Holder’s decision (and we all know Obama’s) to bring the 5 terrorists to NYC to be tried in a Federal Court. I was one of them.
It appears that it takes feeling outraged deep to the core of one’s being to come out in such cold and wet weather to support this major issue. The most common emotion expressed by the speakers, the people I spoke to, and the signs people carried, was the frustration that we talk to deaf ears. It sounds like a common frustration that is being voiced by many people regarding most of America’s issues. The agenda has been set and ‘We the People’ do not matter. It seems that Obama suffers from another ‘Audacity’…that is the Audacity of Ego! And he has surrounded himself with people who suffer from the Audacity of Power! What will it take? Burning down the White House in another attack for him to listen to the people?
The 9/11 organizers of this rally will carry the message across our country, hoping to build a populist voice that might finally carry to the White House. They are being fueled by several other passionate groups and outspoken individuals. These are folks who are mostly driven by their loss in 9/11, or because they survived 9/11, as well as their patriotic love of this country. We need them to motivate the rest of us who are focused on the economy, and in some cases, everyday survival. This issue is about our National Security. Without that, this country as we know it, will not survive. So, over the next few weeks, please pay attention to their voices. Hear what they are saying and let’s unite on this. Spread the word. We need to stop Eric Holder’s decision. We need as much public outcry as possible. We need to get passionate and to take action!”
I strongly oppose the decision of Eric Holder and truly hope it will be reversed. I have a family member working in Homeland Security and was told the 2 people at the top of the ranks are Mid Easterners(Muslims). I just don’t understand this. This is America, and our Homeland Security should be protected and run by Americans. I also have a family member working in the NY City Electrical Union and was told by him the same class of people are heading top offices there, in charge of our subways, etc. To quote Glen Beck, We are not losing our freedoms, we are giving them away! It is all very scary. The thought that these murderers my get off on some technicality is just appalling!!!
Everything I have read I agree with 100%. Some one that has access to the White House should tell Obama to step up to the plate, act like a man and do whatever it takes to get this country back where it was before 9/11. Terrorist should be treated as such, whether they claim citizenship or from another country. An American that comits crimes with much less death and destruction as has been caused by terroist in this country are penalized far greater that they are. I say don’t bring them to trial, hanging or a firing squad is far Less than they deserve.
I pray that this decision is turned around and they keep these monsters in Gitmo. The whole of the Obama administration have shown they care nothing for America or its people. I call this administration the Legion of Demons, with Hussein as the Head Demon. It is outrageous to give these Terrorist Pigs the same rights as an American. We are in a War or has Holder and his idiots had their eyes and ears closed this whole time?
My family And I strongly oppose the granting to foreign terroists the same rights granted to citizens of the United states of America, a trial in the U.S. Court system to be judged by a jury of their peers. Shame on Eric Holder and the Obama administration .
My wife and I are very angry at the Obama administration and feel that we are not being protected by them. It seems that all they understand and all they want is more and more power over us. They have chosen to hold firm to their “vision” with total disregard to who they serve. We the people. The President of the United State’s number one job is to keep us safe. He is failing to understand this important duty, possibly because he is blinded by his personal agenda of socializing our society. I sincerely hope that all those who put their faith in him by voting for him have seen that he was full of empty promises that he has not fulfilled. And I hope that the citizens of this great nation answer him by voting against anyone who supports him in this effort to try terrorists as United States Citizens. There is a lot more that I could say, but let me leave it with this comment to all elected officials. Beware of what is coming your way if you continue to make these terrible decisions. We will not continue to take your disregard for us.
Sincerely, Gary Frost
The Michigan Coalition to Stop Gitmo North salutes your efforts and stands in solidarity with your campaign, America’s imperative. We admire your courage and resolve, giving voice to your loved ones and all who perished in the terror attacks of 9/11. You also give voice to all Americans who do not want our justice system perverted to become a platform for savages sworn to destroy us. Our nation can ill afford the security risks and financial costs of closing Guantanamo Bay and bringing KSM, his co-defendants and the 200-plus remaining Gitmo terror suspects to American soil!
This trial cannot take place. I think it is being done to create the “crisis” they need to tighten the noose around our necks. And it is makeing me increasingly frustrated that all of us: 300 million Americans are being controlled by a few — and that few are NOT our betters. What we need to do first (I think) is to decide: this is not going to happen.
If there is a larger protest somewhere it ought to be a silent one. That would unnerve them, because at their core, they are cowards. No pleading speeches: addressing them tells them you still think they can tell you how you are going to exist in your country. Think about this: they cannot have a trial if no one serves on the jury. But this should be stopped NOW. Who, in New York signed on for this: you might point out to them all the lost revenue from tourists there will be while their city is turned into an armed camp.
It has not been a full year yet with this atrocity of a President that me and every person I know, including my co-workers, that what we are witnessing is a liar and a traitor that, with the help of the mainstream media, has pulled the wool over the voting public and will go down in history as the worst President this great country has ever seen. He is a very cunning and conniving sort which we all now can see has radical ideals to bring this country down to its knees. He is not for America or what she stands for. The fact that this President would order the trial of these terrorist in NYC rather than allowing our Military to dispense justice should tell all Americans what they need to know about this man. He is evil and has no integrity. I pray his treasonous acts will one day soon catch up to him and for all his cronies.
I live in Lakewood, Ohio and want to do everything in my town and the Cleveland area to send the message that I do not agree with the decision to allow the 9/11 terrorists to be tried in a civil court in New York city or anywhere. We as Americans can not let this happen. It is an abomination. If you live in the Cleveland area please contact me.
Eileen: I’m not from the Cleveland area, but saw a reference to your post on the 911neverforget site. I have been sending emails to a number of people, Mitch McConnell, a candidate for U. S. Senate, Michelle Malkin, Tim on the 911 site, and have not heard back about my thinking on this issue. The U.S. Congress has the power under the Constitution to change the jurisdiction of the various U.S. Courts. I would like to see legislation introduced to take away the jurisdiction of the federal U.S. District Court to try the terrorists. Even if it did not pass, it would tell people where their representatives stand. I don’t know if that has already been tried, the stuff I read is basically contact your legislators so they can pressure the administration. Thats not enough. — Paul
